Day 48

Inside of St. Peters

The Vatican

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Today was again, a long day. For sketching and drawing we went to Palazzo Davanti, which is where we went for Forces yesterday. I’m really not enjoying Sketching and Drawing as much as I thought I would when I signed up for it. All of our drawings are perspectives, usually of colonnades and arches. It gets to be pretty boring when you have to sketch the same thing twice a week for two hours. I left class early today because I couldn’t handle it. They don’t even help us out that much anyways- plus, I think I got this down. For Italian History we went to a museum near the Duomo where we talked about the Cathedral and art relating to the design of the Cathedral and the dome by Brunelleschi. I enjoyed class very much.

After studio I worked out and ran a little. I didn’t go see the Beatles tonight because I was really tired. Reflecting upon Rome, a couple days after I went, I would like to say it was a very good trip. It’s a lot bigger than Florence, and there was a lot to see. The city has its history, but its very modern as well. There is a lot of modern architecture in Rome if you really look. Not only that, but they seem to have modernized the culture as well. Its not thriving with the technology of America, but it is sure fond of the American culture in many ways.
